THE ROLE OF A GOOD TEACHER
By School Admin
A good teacher resembles a sun that illuminates the entire world with knowledge, acknowledgement and finally with ‘good deeds'. A good teacher and his life lessons are never temporary but permanent. Education and knowledge are worthless without a good teacher and his teachings. It is often said, “Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu Guru Devo Maheshwara Guru Saakshaat Param Brahma Tasmai Sri Guruve Namah” which means Guru is verily the representative of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. He creates, sustains knowledge and destroys the weeds of ignorance. Such a Guru is always revered everywhere. Hence, a guru and his life lessons are life lasting.
A good teacher creates thousands of future and those thousands turn into millions thus creating a constellation with undefined shining stars. Even, our history is a proof that a great teacher with pure thoughts, determination and his teachings is next to God or 'GOD’ in the form of a human . Students can not only trust him blindly , but also consider him as their role model. A guru never keeps materialistic things in front of those valuable non materialistic values which can vitalise one’s soul. He never provides students with wrong and meaningless knowledge, thus leading them to the path of truth, respect and integrity. It was once quoted by a great Indian scientist, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, “A good teacher , his way of teaching, his way of interaction with students is different. He doesn’t care whether who are you a first bencher or a last bencher, for him everybody is a student.”
Therefore, one could say that a Guru or 'the key to your success’ neither distinguishes nor compares two students on the grounds of their capabilities and talents. He emphasises more on a student’s knowledge not on the student’s grade. Thus, a great teacher is a fire who enlightens our path and leads us to a successful and contended life.
Indian mythology has many great gurus who taught their disciples about all the essential values of life. One of the greatest Gurus of Indian mythology, ’Vishwamitra’ is known to be the Guru of Lord Rama and his brother Lord Lakshmana. Sage Vishwamitra enlightened them with Devastras- the knowledge and use of divine weapons in war. Vishwamitra offered them with extensive knowledge and the miraculous weapons which could fight against all the obstacles. Not only this eminent sage, but there other future shapers also such as Dronacharya, Parshuram, Ved Vyas, Vashistha, Valmiki , Shukracharya and many more who are the creators as well as the shapers of Indian mythology.
Adjectives such as makers, creators and future shapers seem to be deficient to define a Guru and his contributions to a student's life. A Guru volunteers for his student's life throughout his journey to success and instills him the will to fight against injustice.
