WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

“I know my worth. I embrace my power. I say if I am beautiful. I say if I am strong. You will not determine my story. I will.”
~Amy Schumer
Women empowerment is the process of empowering women in all fields. In recent years, women are achieving success in innumerable fields and conquering the whole world with their art, talent, grit and determination. Their hardships are marking their success. Recently, ‘Harnaz Sindhu' of India has been crowned as Miss Universe because of her beauty and brilliance. She became the third Indian to win the Miss Universe title. The first Miss World from India ‘Reita Faria' was coveted with the crown in the year 1966. It was a big challenge for her to participate and win the beauty pageant at a time when it was considered transgression.
Women are the source of inspiration for millions of people across the world. ‘Hima Das', nicknamed the Dhing Express, is the first Indian athlete (sprint runner) to win gold at the IAAF World under-20 Athletics Championship in 2018. Born to rice farmers in the Kandhulimari village near the town of Dhing in India's northeastern state of Assam, Hima was the youngest of five siblings. Because of financial crisis, she didn't have good shoes. She ran in a pair of cheap shoes and won a gold medal at a district-level competition. This inspiring icon struggled hard and became one of the renowned youth of India at the age of 18.Her self confidence, perseverance and strong determination became the voice of India.
Women across the world have raised their voices and have become the pride of their country. Nevertheless, in many parts of the world, numerous women are confined to a particular situation. They are the victims of stereotypes and prejudices. They are even refused to express their thoughts and feelings. Why ? Is it because of the perception of the world towards women or the way the world perceives their strength?
A woman is the creator of a family, a society, a nation and the world. Women should be highly respected and equally treated.
Once it was said by Brigham Young, “You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman, you educate a generation.” Education is one of the best ways of empowering women. Education is considered a milestone for women's empowerment. It helps women to raise their voices against the prevailing social ills and improve their lives. It offers them to be financially stable. Education allows women to stand tall and make their independent decisions and live the life they envision.
Women empowerment is nation empowerment. Women have been residing under the manacles of servitude for centuries now that restricts them for attaining excellence in all spheres of life. Liberating all the women from social evils and empowering them, giving them freedom of speech and determining their own choices must be the priority of the nation. Social egalitarianism should be the vision of the world. Stereotypical thoughts about women should be completely banished as women empowerment comes from thoughts that later turn into actions.
